Women Trip 2017

Our 11th anniversary of a backpacking trip to Europe and we found ourselves in Virginia and DC. We traveled east towards Julia since she has a 4 month old. We got to hang out at her oasis of a mountain home in the hills before heading to DC. She took us to some incredible caverns before hiking in the national forest. Man, it’s really pretty in Virginia!!!!

Then we left Julia at home with her babies and headed to DC. We got to see marine 1 land on the south lawn and then the helicopter take off and land again hours later with the president in it. We saw the pope from 20 feet entering the Vatican when we were in Rome 11 years ago and now we’ve seen the president (from afar) take off and land. It was really exciting. We also experience Arlington Cemetery, the world war 2 memorial and the holocaust museum (neither of which I have been to). All were moving and the whole city inspires patriotism. I am glad I got to see my dear friends and thankful to be an American.

We have a neighbor who babysits for us on the weekends when she not racing dragsters. She’s 13 and races cars at 80 + miles an hour. Pretty bad ass really. BUT she still can’t drive a street car or even a golf cart for that matter… ha! Her family has been inviting us to come see her race and we finally caught a moment to enjoy the speedway last weekend. I wish I would say it was all for the kids but we thought it was pretty amazing too… nix was entranced by the motorcycles 😬

Lake Dayz

My complaint about Colorado for the past decade is the lake of lakes. This weekend proved Colorado might really have it all. Our friends invited us to their private lake for camping and all the skiing we could ask for. It was a dream weekend and sweet Nix even got up on skis! Such a blast…

Last Hurrah- CB

In preparation for kindergarten and our lives and schedules changing dramatically we took a few days to head to the mountains with just our family. We chose our most favorite spot, currently, Crested Butte. We rented a little alley house that we have stayed in before and spend the long weekend riding bikes around town and exploring shops and restaurants. We also put Reese and Nixon in a daycamp on the mountain. They had such a good time that they asked to go back every day. They took the kids on nature walks and to different parks all around the mountain. It was cute.

Vegas Baby

It’s been WAY TO LONG since Mom and I have taken a girls trip.  We love these little getaways but with all this child baring – it’s been awhile.  We did however get to sneak away for a few days in Vegas and it was delightful.  The weather was perfect and the company even better.  We saw 2 shows – LOVE and Terry Fator.  LOVE was no very impressive but Terry Fator was fantastic!  We lost a little cash on the slot machines, ate lots of yummy food and lounged by the pool for a whole day (heavenly).  It was so nice to get some relaxation time with mama in.  Love you mom!  Let’s do it again sooner than later!
