Sunday Afternoon Hiking

One thing I love about living in Denver is ease of mountain access. When the urge to hit the trails for an afternoon hike falls on you…. it’s just an easy 30 min drive to amazing trails. A group of us have been itching to hike the past few weekends, but it has been raining EVERY afternoon for the past 2-4 weeks. Like mountain weather. Totally weird. Its been wonderful for our new sod but a tad annoying for weekend festivities.

This past Sunday was no different but we had finally had enough. We drove up to Boulder after church to find rain storms leaving Chautauqua Park. We started our hike despite the lightening and thunder overhead and ended up traveling all the way to The Royal Arch. It was, as always, breathtakingly beautiful. On our descent down we did get caught in another wave of afternoon rain storms. Luckily, Nathan had scouted out a cave in which we took cover while the rain passed.

The evenig ended back at our house with the Anderson Special: chips and salsa, dinner, drinks, music, and hot tubbing. I love Colorado.
